Prime Labels

For over 40 years first as Quik Stik and now as SATO we have been producing prime labels for some of New Zealand’s most well known brands. Our innovative print team have between them hundreds of years of experience and believe in working closely with customers to make sure our printing matches their vision perfectly. From foiling to die cutting to embossing SATO can provide sound advice and superior expertise about all types of print effects and cost saving strategies.

SATO leads this market in many fields. We manufacture over 75% or the courier labels used in New Zealand and export courier labels to England Ireland Germany Spain and Australia. We are also the single largest producer of RTD bottle labels and produce a large variety of FMCG Labels horticulture tags, fruit labels, retail labels and specialised environmentally friendly labels.

The print techniques or embellishments that SATO commonly uses are:

Multi coloured printing. Our presses allow the use of multicolours to meet the design of the label. This can be a combined use of basic CYMK with PMS special colours and metallic inks.

Surface Protection: Labels can be protected from damage by using either matt or gloss varnish or a clear film. A combination of these can be applied to a label.

Face Stocks: Different face stocks can be used. Gloss, semi gloss and Matt, embossed, synthetic and paper.

Foiling: To further enhance a label, hot or cold foil can be applied. Usually this would be in gold and silver. Holograms can also be included.

Blind Embossing: Blind embossing of selected parts of the label will allow areas to be raised up and stand out.

Die Cutting: Labels can be cut to most shapes. The criteria for this, is how the label is applied. Sharp corners are usually not permitted due to problems with stripping the waste off at high speed.

Kill Adhesive: Parts of the adhesive can be “killed” so that the adhesive will not stick in those areas.

Plain Labels

SATO manufacture a variety of plain labels including thermal direct thermal transfer and Arrow laser labels. We can custom make any label pending suitable order quantities.

SATO has outstanding competencies when it comes to managing variable data and can provide overprinting services for a number of industries. Overprinting on retail tags forestry tags and courier labels are just a few of our specialities.

With New Zealand’s largest barcode bureau and access to the world's leading label media manufacturers we can match the exact labels to our customer's exact needs. Our experienced design team offers advice to our customers to help choose the most suitable barcode symbology text layout and fonts label materials and much more. We make it easy for you to get the labels you need so you can focus on your core business.

With high standards of quality control and using the most recent technology advances, the Barcode Bureau produces labels and tags cost effectively, and often more efficiently than the production done by customers themselves.

All completed work goes through a Quality Assurance process, which identifies bar code labels as reading correctly. As an EAN Certified organization, this Quality Assurance process is subject to an annual audit by GS1. Every production run that includes barcode data is verified to guarantee read rates and consistent quality. This is information is then saved against the order for future reference. SATO’s own internal expertise relating to business improvements also ensures that our processes are regularly assessed and enhanced in line with new technology and production methods.

M10e

SATO’s new M10e was designed with manufacturing applications in mind. This barcode printer creates labels up to a full 11.8 inches wide at a speed of up to 5 inches per second. The 10.5-inch printhead makes it possible to print large format compliance labels at top speed without rotating the image. The M10e printer can hold media sizes up to approximately 11.8” wide x 16.6” long. For maximum throughput a 32-bit high speed RISC processor is in the heart of every M10e printer.
